Outdoor Camping Showers

Quality camping showers are key to customer engagement.

We now live in a more competitive environment and getting guests to book in season, let alone outside of school holidays is challenging. But it can be done by simple upgrades, one of which is giving clients a feeling of a comfortable personal environment.

Looking back through my experience of camping – say it softly but that is over 50 years, I much enjoy the shower spaces which feel like my bathroom at home. The temptation is to provide facilities that fit in with the site operations rather than putting yourself in the customers shoes. Of course, the golden nugget is to hit both.

The days of providing small cubicles with water coming in from the next-door shower and getting dry clothes wet, are going to be time limited.

So that is the basis of how we design the showers we produce. Sure, I get the operational advantage of having a shower unit on a trailer chassis, so at the end of season it can be moved, but you certainly are not a site for those with low mobility. And do not forget there are plenty of booking options out there. It’s likely you are reducing your market already.

How many showers to how many pitches is often asked, well there is no correct answer, but just consider the pinch point in the morning and how in this day we expect an instant result. Our suggested value is based on number of people rather than pitches, so expect an acceptable window of 2 hours and 6 people per hour per shower. We also suggest that having separate toilets with basins will take much of the grumpiness away.

We like having direct access doors to the showers, so people feel in their own space, we use easy clean hygienic panels and we fit sliding glass doors, so clothes stay dry. We fit emergency lights alongside the PIR controlled LED light. Heated towel rail is a great idea. Options for shower is your choice, if you have a push button – non-concussive – and set a long run time, you will be happy (lower cost) and if you explain with a notice that it is a push button to help the environment (or any other fancy reason that makes them feel good) your customers will not object to your push button!

Remember that it is a good idea to have an accessible shower within your mix. If nothing else, it shows you have thought about your clients.

So overall, give clients better facilities, they will respect them, pay you more and most importantly think about rebooking.
